Author of Pack of Wolves
Meet Jerry Allan, Singer/Songwriter/Actor
He can impersonate Waylon or Willie, but Jerry Allan is a force of his own. Jerry has been writing songs about his experiences and entertaining the public for the last 37 years.
His latest song, Pack of Wolves, bemoans political corruption that destroys a nation.
“It’s what I felt was going on today in the country,” said Allan. “We live in a wonderful country of freedom where we have the right to agree to disagree. The song is not supporting any particular party or person.”
Allan, who grew up in northern Minnesota, learned to play a guitar while in junior high. And as a church-goer, he began writing Gospel songs.
“I listened to Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard a lot,” he said. “I met Frank Dell (a country music singer and recording artist, who hosted country music programs on radio and television) when I was still in high school and he inspired me to keep writing songs.”
Allan said he was also influenced by the music of Barry McGuire who wrote “Eve of Destruction.”
Allan began traveling to the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1984 where he portrayed Wild Bill Hickok in Keystone, S.D. He put a western show together and has been performing tribute shows in Keystone for the last 37 years.
The singer/songwriter has also been involved in the film industry, having had roles in Dances With Wolves, Thunderheart, Gunsmoke and Iron Will, among others.
Allan has more than 100 songs to his credit. His tribute to Waylon Jennings is more than an impersonation of a well-know country music artist – it is a showcase of the talent of the Highwaymen – impersonating not only Waylon but Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. His original song, “South Dakota” has become the state’s theme song among locals and tourists.
Allan’s Pack of Wolves shows the need for a revival in America. Let all freedom-loving people take heed to the days people are living in.
God bless America, again.
